Nanae Kawahara explains her reasons to become an illustrator: "I love drawing, I hope I could have communication with people by my illustration work. I recently think I would like that people feel enjoy/happy/fun when they look at my works. My influences come from my daily life and imagination by memory. I've been attracted to dogs and music as well, they give me lots of dreams!"
Regarding her studies in London she says: "I thought art and design can have wide view, I mean no border. And I wanted to know London, had a lot of individual style for a long time ago. Also I like an artist called Julie Verhoeven whose works make me feel freedom".
