Hortelano-Pi is an illustrator and portrait painter from Murcia living in Madrid.

José Manuel rather likes watercolor and with it tries to introduce light in the drawing giving the prominent role to the human figure, the flesh and the energy.
His portraits have a contemporary dimension and he insists about the importance of collaborations through internet for his works. He shows everyday scenes with kind of intimacy and reflects a sweeping atmosphere and the exchange glances between drawing and observer.

Hortelano-Pi es un ilustrador y retratista murciano afincado en Madrid.
José Manuel utiliza predominantemente la acuarela y con ella intenta que la luz se abra paso por el dibujo de forma que la figura humana sea el único referente para la contraposición de carne y energía. Sus retratos poseen una dimensión más contemporánea e insiste en la importancia de la colaboración por Internet para realizar sus obras. Refleja escenas cotidianas con cierta intimidad y en ellas destaca la naturaleza envolvente y el juego de miradas entre dibujo y espectador.
